I found a gadget – a compact, no-mess, non-electric machine that turns out seltzer water or flavored soda beverages cheap! This is a good fit for your kitchen, the den, or home office. It’s fast, too. This cute little machine has a footprint that is smaller than a paperback book. It weighs very little. It needs some head space since it stands about 14 inches high, but work it in to your office decor — it’s a hoot.
I’ve been using mine since early fall and the experience has been quite positive. My grandkids and my children like the available flavor syrups — everything from colas to fruit punch. You can get very light flavorings called “My Water” that I really enjoy. My husband just drinks the unflavored bubble water on ice.
Here are some cool features:
- cost a fraction of commercial soda beverages
- quick and easy to operate — older kids can do it
- supplied bottle cap really keeps the sparkle in if you refrigerate the beverage
- flavorings make lots and lots of soda
- reordering is easy, though the Web site is a bit funky to navigate
I like that you can control the amount of syrup you use. If you like the beverages ultra sweet, you’d stick pretty close to suggested proportions of syrup to water. If you like them a little lighter like we do, but aren’t in to artificial sweeteners, you can back off on flavoring. Diet versions are available.
At less than $100 this complete system makes a great gift item for holidays, birthdays, or even wedding showers, perfect for people who seem to have everything. Always on the lookout for cool gadgets that don’t just collect dust, I’ve fully adopted Sodastream . My family makes a bottle of something before every meal.
